Yutani Heavy Industries, Ltd., one of the predecessors of Kobelco Construction Machinery, developed the first domestically-produced static hydraulic fracturing crusher “Nibbler” through a technical tie-up with Hy-Mac (UK).

The first unit was mounted on the YS1200 hydraulic excavator and put to work on the demolition of the former Mitsui residence in Akasaka.

The YS1400 demolition excavator was completed. It had a demolition height of 23m.

The building demolition excavator, YMN40W, was developed. It had a demolition height of 41m, and was acknowledged as the highest working height in the world at that time.

A demolition specification excavator for the large hydraulic excavator “Dynamic Series” was developed.

The building demolition excavator, SK1000D, with a demolition height of 43m was developed.

The building demolition excavator, SK700D, with a demolition height of 35m was developed.

The ultra-high reach building demolition excavator, SK1600D, with a demolition height of 50m was launched.

The ultra-large crusher KR3000R Nibbler for foundation demolition with a mass of 18t class, was developed.

The 100t building demolition excavator, SK950LCD, was developed. This machine achieved the assemble and disassemble of attachments with hydraulic pins.

The ultra-high reach building demolition excavator, SK3500D, with a working height of 65m is registered with Guinness World Records.

The world’s largest ultra-large crusher for foundation demolition, KR2000TPR (mass 19 tons) and the world’s largest ultra-large KS1600TPR nibbler (mass 19t) for steel frame demolition were developed.

The SK145LCD, a specialised demolition excavator for high-rise demolition was launched.

The building demolition excavator utilising a common use type main boom “NEXT” series was expanded to the 30t-50t class. The split type pin and hook type attachment/detachment greatly reduce the on-site disassembly and assembly time.

The SK2200D was launched as a successor to the ultra-high reach demolition excavator, SK1600D.

Also in 2013 in North America, Kobelco (KCMU) was relaunched. At ConExpo 2014, KCMU displayed a SK1000D, SK350D material handler and SK210D auto dismantler.

The SK1000D was sold in Canada to Priestly Demolition (PDI)  and at the time was the first Kobelco Ultra Demolition machine sold outside of Japan.
